Jed recorded their second win in a row with a thumping 52 - 17 win At home against Aberdeen Grammar. It has to be said that Grammer are currently suffering the kind of injury woes that Jed had for the first half of the season.
Jed were up for it but some silly kicks went wrong and we were 12 - 0 down before we got on the scoreboard. When we controlled possession the dry conditions helped us score 4 tries and secure the bonus point before half time. Garry Young 2, Gregor Young and Lewis Young scored with Yourston converting 3 to give Jed a 26 - 12 HT lead.
Jed were reminded at the beginning of the second half that Aberdeen had scoring power when No 8 Nat Coe powered in for his side’s third try. Thereafter, Jed took control, dominating the set-piece to added tries by scrum half Nik Stingl, centre Monty Mitchell (both converted by Yourston), a penalty try and a final effort by hooker Finlay Campbell.
Gavin Kerr said “After our result last week [against Hawks] we seem to have got ourselves back to a winning way. It’s good for us to build momentum going into next week [Edinburgh Accies]. We’ve got a couple of guys who were injured now back in the team, so the outlook’s a bit more positive.”
