Jed are once again strengthened by the presence of Mark Lee who has made himself available from his Army duties. Robin Laing also comes into the squad in the hope that he will help to break down some defences.

Because of postponed games and an SRU ruling Jed are forced to travel to Grangemouth for a meaningless league game. With Hawick 7s also on Saturday and Jed in running for the Kings of the 7s the Grangemouth game takes 2nd place and the team selection show this. Unfortunately the 2nds have have to call off from Selkirk Junior 7s due to the lack of backs.

30th Mar                                    Weekend Team News

Saturday is Jed's last 15s game and it is playing second fiddle to Gala 7s which takes place on Sunday. There is also some uncertainty over the seconds because the SRU want the leagues finished and they have told us to play Kilmarnock 2nds but Saturday is also Langholm Junior 7s so Jed have named a make shift team this week. On the plus side Ross Goodfellow returns after an injury lay off.  Fitzy however, is off with a bad back.

18th Mar                                Thompson on Bench for Jed

Borders pro Paul Thompson  is on the comeback trail after months out with a serious knee injury and he is being allowed to play for 20 mins this week so he is on the bench for us this week. Chris Shaw is not available so Robert Ferguson starts.

16th Mar                                 Saturdays Team News

There are several changes to the team this week due to injury and unavailability for the rearranged Grangemouth  game. Brian McDonnell, N. Tunnah & Simon Lightbody are all unavailable, James Henderson has an injured ankle & Mark  Fitzgerald is in a neck brace following an injury picked up in the Hawick game, so Scott Laidlaw switches to centre. Amo and  Chris Richards also swap possitions. In come James Hogg at scrum half for more experience and he is joined by Scott McDonald, Chris Shaw, Paul Cranston & the Grieve brothers.

9th Mar                            Team to Play Dundee in the Cup

Jed are back to near full strength for the massive cup game at Dundee on Saturday, with Jason Gill, Chris Richards and Simon Lightbody all back after missing the defeat at Hawick. That means Robin Laing again misses out as does Donald Grieve who is replaced by Scott Laidlaw after impressing against Hawick.

4th Mar                            Saturdays Team to Play Hawick

Saturday is the 1st of 2 big games in successive weeks for Jed. If we beat Hawick and get a bonus point, we will go into the final of the Border League. Clark Laidlaw is available for Jed for the 1st time this year and he replaces bad back victim Simon Lightbody at centre. Robin Laing regains the no 10 jersey, in for the unavailable Chris Richards. Graeme Renwick is fit again from his neck injury and play at 9. Finally Jason Gill is once again sidelined with his troublesome knee so Scott Laidlaw comes in.

24th Feb                                   Saturdays Team News

There are three changes this week for the league encounter with Murrayfield Wanderers. Robin Laing comes into scrum half for Graeme Renwick who has a very stiff neck from the Selkirk cup game. Billy Graham is unavailable so Donald Greive replaces him in the back row and John Szkudro regains a starting place in the second row at the expense of the unlucky Euan Kelly.

17th Feb                                     Sundays Cup Team

The selectors have provided 2 major surprises for this weeks huge cup game against Selkirk. After coming through Fridays Border League game with flying colours Neil Cook keeps his place in the 2nd row which leaves John Szkudro on the bench. Robin Laing has also found himself on the bench, because Chris Richards has been moved to stand off with Simon Lightbody moving into centre and Roy McFarlane playing on the wing. Good luck boys.

John Szkudro and Jamie McCraw are late withdrawals this week. John has muscle trauma in his legs and Jamie's finger will have to be reset after it was dislocated the other week. Paul Hill and Scott Laidlaw come into the team.

Jason Gill has recovered from the knee injury that has kept him out for the last few weeks and he is joined in the back row by Billy Graham who keeps his place because Donald Grieve has been called up to sit on the bench for Scotland U19, who play their Welsh counterparts next week. Graeme (pip) Renwick replaces James Hogg at scrum half after a couple of decent games for the 2nds.

22nd Jan                                             Saturdays Teams

Jed go into the big local derby against Gala without several 1st liners. Jamie McCraw will be out for a couple of weeks after he broke his pinkie in 2 places last week so Craig Goodfellow starts. Jason Gill failed a fitness test tonight on his knee so Billy Graham once again takes his place. Neil Cook is away in Romania for work so Euan Kelly takes his place. So add that to Gary Hill and Ross Goodfellow and you can see how stretched we are.

Saturday will see the team unchanged from the previous week and once again sees young James Hogg at scrum half. He now has the opportunity to gain valuable experience because of the injury to Ross Goodfellow that rules him out for the rest of the season.

Saturday will be John Szkudro's first  start for 18 months when he plays against Kirkaldy and that is the only change in the forwards. It is a different story in the backs though, James Hogg comes into scrum half cause Gary is away with the Borders and Ross is still injured, Simon Lightbody also makes his 1st start for a while in place of Steven Dickson and the centres swap places in a bid for more balance.

2nd Jan                                             Jed Team to Play Kelso

Jed are forced into a few changes in the backs after picking up injuries in the Dundee game. Chris Richards starts at centre and we are lucky enough to have Gary Armstrong available for only the second time this year, he comes in for Ross Goodfellow. Roy McFarlane is to get an x-ray on a sternum injury so Steven Dickson come in.

24th Dec                                Jed 2nds Squad to play Kelso 2nds on Saturday

    Jed 2nds take on Kelso in a friendly on Saturday with a lot of the regular 1st XV subs getting  much needed game time. The John Szkudro comeback is on hold after the physio decided that it needs some more time. Chris Richards and Simon Lightbody will be looking for big games to put them in contention for Gary Hill's place after his knee injury last weekend.

18th Dec                                                Szkudro poised for comeback

    Jed 2nds take on Melrose 2nds in a friendly on Saturday. Chris Richards, Simon Lightbody and Gareth Scott are all needing more  "game time" before being ready for the 1st XV. Also listed for his first appearance in 18 months after dislocating his shoulder is John Szkudro, who starts on the bench but will feature at some stage. Other changes see David Grieve come in at hooker while Murray Brown has a shot at prop in the absence of Chris Shaw. James Hogg swaps round with Pip Renwick, although both had very good games in their relevant positions last Saturday at Musselburgh in the 34-0 victory which keeps the 2nds well on course for promotion. James Hogg is only playing half a game as he is subbing for the 1st XV which has a later KO.

Jed are able to field the same team for the 3rd week running and the only changes are on the bench, where Kelvin Todd is allowed to play for us for the first time. Clark Laidlaw goes into hospital to fix his nose and Gary Armstrong is still injured.

11th Dec                                                              Same Again For Jed !!

    With the injury situation starting to clear Jed are able to field almost the same side for the third successive Saturday, the only change sees James Henderson and David Grieve swapping roles. Jed had  hoped to fit Clark Laidlaw into the line up, but Clark has a groin problem this week.   

    Jed 2nds travel to Mussleburgh and include comeback men Chris Richards and Simon Lightbody in their ranks as well as Ian Hedley who makes his first appearance since dislocating his elbow against Selkirk 2nds in the first game of the season.

    Jed 3rds are also in action against Gala YM , I'm not sure of the finalised line up Team Manager Ian Clarkson and Captain Eethie were not releasing the team to the press until just before kick off, to keep the YM guessing, but the evergreen Kevin Liddle is penciled in.

3rd Dec                                              Saturdays Teams

Unbelievably the 1sts are able to select the same starting line up as last week. This is the 1st time this year that we have been able to do so.

Even more encouraging is the return to fitness of several players, most notably Simon Lightbody gets a run in the 2nds after several weeks out. Ian Hedley is also back from a broken arm and Paul Cranston should be fit enough to take his place on the bench. With Gareth Scott and Graeme Renwick back training and playing regularly things are certainly looking promising.  Chris Richards should also be fit to return next week.

27th Nov                            Saturdays Teams to Travel to Glasgow

There are 2 changes to the 1sts this week. Mark Fitzgerald is called into 1st team action sooner than expected because of Hamish Stewarts surprise departure from the club. In the second row Neil Cook comes in after his trip to the world cup. James Henderson and Paul Cranston are back in the squad after unavailability and injury.

2nds Team to play G.H.A 2nds

The 2nds have probably their strongest team of the season for their crunch game against top of the table G.H.A. Robert Ferguson, Paul Hill and Gary Hughes come down from the 1st squad and Kevin Liddle has once again made himself available add Gareth Scott to the team and even the bench looks strong, so good luck boys.

Jed welcome Euan Kelly back into the second row after the mandatory 3 weeks out because of concussion instead of  Gareth Davies who has parted company from the club. Brian McDonnell replaces Robert Ferguson, and Jamie McCraw comes on to the wing, with Kevin Amos and Ross Goodfellow reverting to their normal possitions.

1st xv to play Duns in the Cup

The seconds are boosted by several 1st team regulars making comebacks or playing to gain match fitness for the rearranged league game against Musselburgh. James Henderson, Scott Laidlaw and Tim van Vliet have all recovered from the flu, Steven Hume and Chris Shaw are back after being unavailable last week. Gary Douglas returns to the bench after an ankle injury, and Graeme Renwick comes back to Jed after 2 seasons at St Boswells and a 6 month trip to New Zealand.

Gary Armstrong is available for the first time this season because the Borders have a 2 week break and he will be a welcome sight for the traveling support in his familiar number 9 jersey. Ross Goodfellow moves to full back to accommodate Gary and Kevin Amos moves to the wing in place of the unavailable Steven Dixon. Tim Van Vliet has been signed off for 2 weeks with a bad chest infection and this allows Hamish Stewart to return to centre and Scott Laidlaw drops to the 2nds. Davie Forster is at last fit again and he replaces Tim in the back row. Brian McDonnell and Jamie McCraw have recovered from injury and they return to the squad on the bench.

          More injuries to deal with this week. Brian MacDonnell twisted a back last week James Henderson comes back after being unavailable last week. Both Neil Tunnah and Robert Ferguson are dropped so Paul Cranston and David Grieve come in to replace them. With the injury crisis being so bad the only other second row cover in the club is 39 year old Gary Young and he comes on to the bench.

Another spate of injuries sees a brand new second row this week with Paul Hill the only fit second row in the club he gets his first start, he is joined there by Gareth Davies. Billy Graham replaces Donald Grieve and Scott Laidlaw replaces Hamish Stewart who has to miss out as the 3rd overseas player. Steven Dickson comes back on the wing.

16th Oct                                                Weekend Team News

        Jed make several changes after last weeks debacle against Haddington , as they travel to Netherdale looking to get back on track against the in form Gala side. Jason Gill goes straight into the side despite not arriving in Jed until Friday. Hopefully he can reproduce the form he showed on his last visit to the club 2 years ago. Also back in action is Gareth Scott who comes in for his first start of the season. In the pack  team manager Alisdair Campbell joins Neil Cook in the middle row, the latter playing his last game before a trip to Oz for the world cup. Other changes see Gareth Davies return from injury, Scott Laidlaw replacing the injured Steven Dickson (broken bone in foot) and Chris Shaw starting at prop ahead of Robert Ferguson. Dale Roberson is a victim of the 2 foreigners in the squad rule and misses out as does Tim Van Vliet who was man of the match for the 2nds in their impressive display at Dunfermline last week.

30th Sept                                      Changes for  Kirkaldy

        Jed show a whole host of changes for the trip to Kirkaldy. Firstly Tim Van Vliet is in the unfortunate position of being the 3rd foreigner this week after playing really well in recent weeks and Michael Graham comes in at hooker after impressing in the 2nds in recent weeks, Euan Kelly and Ross McDonald change places this week with Euan starting and Gareth Davies makes his debut at No 8 after getting his clearance through.

In the Backs Dale Robertson gets another chance to get the back line moving with Kevin Amos reverting to full back and Stephen Dickson starts on the wing after impressing as a sub last week.

     Jed make 3 changes to the team this week. Simon Lightgbody has been ruled out for about a month with a broken hand so Scott McDonald comes in after impressing in the 2nds last week along side Craig Goodfellow who comes in at full back with Amo moving to stand off. Billy Graham comes into the back row with Donald Grieve and Jamie McCraw stepping down to the 2nds.

        Saturday sees Jed devastated by injury and both Neil Cook and David Grieve are out. Tim VanVliet makes a first appearance for the firsts and Ross McDonald comes into the second row. On the plus side Simon Lightbody returns and Ross Goodfellow should return. Ali Campbell makes a comeback and is on he bench.

The seconds play G.H.A 2nds and the team below is really the only players left that are not injured or unavailable. Calum (beige) Brown is also coming back to sit on the bench.

4th Sept                          Weekend Team News

      Chris Richards and Ross Goodfellow return for the border derby against Selkirk on Sunday and that means Kevin Amos moves to fly half.  Dale Roberson, James Hogg and James Henderson (to boost his match fitness) play for the 2nds in their friendly at Hawick on Saturday, and will hopefully join un retired Steven Hume on the Bench.

28th Aug                         Weekend Team News 

        Saturday sees the first Premier div 2 game of the season, and injuries are already playing there part. Simon Lightbody is out with a back injury and is replaced by Roy McFarlane. Ross Goodfellow is a major doubt with a poisoned knee, so young James Hogg stands by. Chris Richards is out with a groin strain so our new recruit Dale Roberson from Australia starts at stand off. The front row shows 3 changes with Brian McDonnell coming in for the unlucky Robert Ferguson and David Grieve moves to prop with Gary Douglas coming in at Hooker. These moves were made to stabalise the scrum and lineout.

Friday nights 2nds team sees the first appearance of Canadian (grammar school teacher) Tim VanVliet who is still waiting for clearance from the Canadian RU for the 1sts. He has looked decidedly useful in training. Steven Shaw makes a comeback from knee injury after completing a series of injections over the summer, and James Henderson starts from the bench, after returning to training following heavy work commitments.

21st Aug                                    Weekend Team News

         Saturday sees Jed's first competitive game of the season, when we play Berwick at Riverside, in a Border league game. Jed's team sees the inclusion of several exciting youngsters, most notably prop Robert Ferguson and flanker Donald Greive who are fresh from the Thistle. Also in the team is New Zealander Hamish Stewart (I will have more news on him next week) and on the bench is ex Hawick player  Gary Douglas who can play hooker or back row.
